The original building was called Morro 52, and it was built by Juan Portal Álvarez in the first half of the 20th century during the period of Mario García Menocal’s government. It housed on its second floor the upper middle class made up of former immigrants and their descendants.
On the first level and inside the gallery marked by a solid Neoclassical style, “El Morro Café” was developed for many years, with a great influx of politicians and travelers, due to its privileged location, behind the Palacio Velasco-Sarrá, today the Embassy of Spain, the Presidential Palace and in view of the fortresses of El Morro and La Cabaña.
After 1935 the barbershop “El Corte de Morro” was annexed, where prominent figures of politics and entertainment had their hair cut.

With 5 air-conditioned rooms and excellent facilities, the Habana Vieja VIP Boutique Hotel offers exclusivity and style. The rooms are spacious and have balconies from which you can appreciate the views of Old Havana.
